The Challenge
We are looking for an Environmental Engineer II to join our Monitoring and Stewardship team in our Raleigh headquarters.
In this role, you will:
- Assist our Monitoring and Stewardship Group with the planning, design, construction, monitoring, and stewardship of NCDOT onsite stream, wetland, and buffer mitigation sites statewide.
- Assist and support advanced engineers on the team to ensure timely project delivery of onsite mitigation design plans.
- Assist in the coordination of post-construction monitoring efforts for onsite stream, wetland, and buffer mitigation sites statewide, ensuring compliance with all environmental permit conditions and schedules.
- Assist in the management of Private Engineering Firms involving scope of work, estimates, project management tasks, scheduling, budgets, invoicing, and evaluations.
- Read & analyze transportation project plans, provisions, specifications, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws relating to Compensatory Mitigation.
- Assist in the management and implementation of NCDOT's Stewardship Program, including site inspections and field reconnaissance to resolve issues.
- Coordinate and communicate with State and Federal Environmental Agencies on permit compliance related to NCDOT's Onsite Mitigation Program.
What You Bring
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental engineering related o natural streams, wetlands, and buffer design/monitoring.
- Knowledge of Federal and State laws related to environmental matters (specifically Compensatory Mitigation) and Federal Highway Administration regulations relating to other aspects of highway planning, design, and construction.
- Experience managing performance monitoring of Compensatory Mitigation Sites to meet State and Federal Permitting Requirements.
- Experience managing stewardship of Compensatory Mitigation properties.
- Experience reading and understanding highway project plans, provisions, specifications, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws related to Compensatory Mitigation.
Bonus Points!
- If you have experience with CADD-ORD, ArcGIS Pro, or Applied Fluvial Geomorphology related to Natural Stream Planning and Design.
Note
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors Degree in engineering, and
- 3 years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
