Summary
The Marketing and Communications Manager works to maintain the brand of NC One Water, engage marketing strategies, and develop high-quality graphics and publications.

Qualifications
- A post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, OR equivalent job experience.
- Three to five years of experience in a communications and marketing role.
- Non-profit experience a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team member
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
- Exceptional project management skills, collaborative team player able to support multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Comfortable with responsibilities that will morph as the business grows including “other duties as assigned.”
- Strong customer-centric focus, with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels of an organization.
- Experience with SEO, social media, and metrics data analysis for optimization.

Essential Functions
- Initiate research, development, and implementation of new marketing programs, including direct mail, social media marketing, and other initiatives.
- Develop marketing plans within budget requirements.
- Develop and promote branding initiatives consistent with the association’s mission/vision.
- Design and produce marketing collateral in accordance with brand messages.
- Collaborate with all departments to identify internal and external customer needs.
- Communicate with sponsors as needed for joint marketing activities.
- Develop, manage and execute an annual strategic marketing and communications plan.
- Evaluate the success of various communication strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure that all materials are delivered according to an appropriate timeline.
- Maintain and improve association website.
- Collaboration with Parent associations to reflect brand representation as a North Carolina Member Association. Coordination with parent organizations to ensure consistent branding and messaging between AWWA/WEF National and NC One Water.
- Conduct all business for NC AWWA-WEA (NC One Water) in compliance with the organization’s Constitution and Bylaws and Board approved policies, and federal and state nonprofit corporate status.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, and drive. Employee regularly uses phone, calculator, and computer with screen for extended periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the office is moderate and at convention facilities may be loud. This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, copier, and filing cabinets.
Travel Requirements
- Some local travel is required for this position.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license, or the ability to acquire one.
- Bondable.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required, including furnishing your own reliable vehicle and proof of insurance and overnight stays in hotels.
