About the Department
Dairy Records Management System ( DRMS ), based in the Department of Animal Science at North Carolina State University, is recruiting an exceptional leader to be the next Director. The Director will report to the Head of the Department of Animal Science and will collaborate closely with the DRMS Advisory Board and the Chair of the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University.
DRMS provides cow and herd management information plus software to dairy farmers located in 44 states and Puerto Rico. These dairy farmers are members of Dairy Herd Improvement Associations (DHIAs). DRMS aggregates and edits data keyed into its software by dairy farmers and DHIA field technicians at any of 8,000 dairy farms. Its software merges on-farm data with results of lab analyses for milk samples collected from each cow and produces management information for herd management. DRMS develops software that is used for many functions, including data collection, lab management, data integration, record computation, report generation, print center management, data backup, and business management for DHIAs. The software operates on web, desktop, and mobile platforms. Additionally, DRMS software interfaces with various technologies that collect on-animal sensor outputs.
The Director is the strategic leader for DRMS and provides visionary leadership to a complex scientific and business enterprise. The successful candidate will lead strategic, staffing, business, software development, and customer service functions, and the process of ongoing planning and implementing the DRMS programs and organizational structure.
