The School of Graduate Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has an opportunity for a full-time, Senior Marketing and Recruitment Specialist . The UMB School of Graduate Studies offers graduate education and training in biomedical, health, and human service sciences - offering 23 Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree programs, and three post-baccalaureate certificate programs in these areas of study.

The Senior Marketing and Recruitment Specialist will work with the School of Graduate Studies' admissions staff, administrators, faculty, and students to develop and implement strategic marketing and advertising plans for the School of Graduate Studies based academic programs. The selected applicant is responsible for communications and marketing to potential student applicants throughout the admissions process. In addition, the Senior Marketing and Recruitment Specialist conducts ROI (Return on Investment) analysis and assessments to gauge effectiveness of promotional strategies and take action for identifying strengths and weaknesses. Regularly reports on the progress of marketing plans and the impact of specific marketing initiatives to increase enrollment and enhance the reputation of the School of Graduate Studies.
Primary Duties
- Collaborate with the School of Graduate Studies' admissions staff, administrators, faculty, and students to develop and implement strategic communication and marketing plans for online and entrepreneurial degree programs.
- Responsible for communications and marketing to potential student applicants throughout the admissions process.
- Develop relationships with external stakeholders in the health sciences industry (hospital administrators, professional organization leadership, faculty and advisors from surrounding undergraduate health sciences programs).
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing various marketing strategies including, but not limited to : mailings, electronic communications, social media, college visits, information sessions, and other special events.
- Design marketing advertisements. Develop, write, and edit marketing layouts for School of Graduate Studies admissions publications. Coordinate with printers and other personnel to ensure publications are printed on schedule and according to budgetary and other requirements.
- Collaborate with Admissions staff to provide marketing materials for distribution and the web.
- Conduct ROI analysis and assessments to gauge effectiveness of promotional strategies and take action for identifying strengths and weaknesses.
- Participate in budget compilation and analysis for marketing and advertising efforts in the School of Graduate Studies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree. Degree in marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, or related field of study is preferred.
Experience : Three (3) years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or media, public or client relations.
Other : Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and / or experience is required only directly related education and / or experience may be substituted.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Hiring Range : $68,000 - $79,000, commensurate with education and experience.
