What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operational Excellence Consultant (Local, Hybrid) position at NCCI?
JOB OVERVIEW:
To continuously improve processes across the enterprise by partnering with Business Units and IT. Drive quality, reduce risks, and streamline processes through innovation and operational excellence methodologies.
NOTE:
-This position is open to candidates living in a local, commutable distance from our headquarters location in Boca Raton, FL.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Lead major process improvement projects and initiatives, as well as collaborating through smaller activities, using Operational Excellence methodology and tools (e.g., Lean and Six Sigma principles, Process Management, Visual Management/Metric Dashboards, Data Analytics) to directly impact business objectives and results across the organization.
Mentor, coach, and promote the application of Operational Excellence methodologies and tools to employees through practical application and training (e.g., Lean and Six Sigma, Facilitation Skills, etc.).
Contribute and implement continuous improvement ideas to improve internal processes and structure related to continuously maturing the integration of Operational Excellence within NCCI, including aligning with IT and internal business partners on project delivery.
WHAT IT TAKES:
- Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience in leading cross-functional project teams and applying Lean methodologies to identify risks, improve operational processes, and develop data visualizations for monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

- Lean Methodology & Process Management – Strong proficiency and demonstrated project management experience leading teams using Lean methodology and process management tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, Fishbone Diagrams, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Waste Analysis, Control Charts)
- Data Analytics & Visualization – High proficiency in gathering and formatting data, performing analyses to glean insights, and creating metric dashboards using visual management techniques and tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Microsoft Office & Technical Skills – Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for advanced formula create and data analysis.
- Adaptability & Prioritization – Strong ability to prioritize effectively, manage competing demands, and adjust to evolving business needs.
- Training & Coaching – Experience in leading training sessions, coaching teams, and mentoring individuals on Lean Six Sigma methodologies and best practices
- MS Excel and Power BI (experience with creating advanced formulas and macros)
- Strong data mining skills (experience using SQL to perform queries)
- Experience with Power Platform (Power BI, SharePoint, Power Apps)

- Working knowledge of Workers Compensation or Insurance industry helpful
- Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field (background in process optimization, systems engineering, or operational efficiency)
