This position is located in Rockingham County in the Resident Engineer’s Office. This position will serve as the lead roadway/structure inspector supporting engineers in the administration of highway construction projects. Employee will monitor the contractor’s daily operations and perform or review test reports to ensure all work performed and materials used conform to specifications, plans and contractual provisions. Will perform contract administration duties such as pay record entry/review, material received reports, certified payroll, haul tickets, as-constructed plans and monthly estimates. This position must be able to manage and train lower-level technicians, communicate effectively and resolve/mitigate construction delays and issues. Employee must be able to analyze and interpret highway construction plans, use survey equipment, apply engineering concepts to solve complex problems and complete projects independently with limited supervision.

Employee may be exposed to hazards including but not limited to high traffic volumes, heavy construction equipment, heights over water or traffic, extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
