Our Company
North Carolina FC Youth (NCFC Youth) is a non-profit youth soccer organization home to more than 16,000 players (ages 2.5-19) and their families each year. Through full-service programming, NCFC Youth offers youth soccer for all levels of play – from Recreation and outreach programs up to the highest levels of elite competition. Position Overview
Reporting to both the Director of Supplemental Programs and the Director of Tournaments and Facility Events, the Camps and Events Intern will play a key role in the planning and execution of NCFC Youth’s summer programs, including summer camps and tournaments. This internship offers a hands-on experience for current college students and runs from May through August 8, with a weekly commitment of 35–40 hours, which will include some night and weekend hours.
Essential Responsibilities
Tournaments and Events
- Support the on-field execution of tournaments, including event setup, team check-ins, score reporting, awards coordination, and event breakdown for NCFC’s Recreation Cup, City of Oaks Classic (May), and Summer 3v3 Series (June/July).
- Assist in organizing NCFC Classic and Challenge Program Tryouts in May and June.
- Perform administrative tasks such as communication management and website updates for the Summer 3v3 Series and visitRaleigh.com Showcase Series as needed.
Camps
- Respond to and assist with incoming camp inquiries, including participant questions and special requests.
- Participate in the on-site execution of camps by managing field setup, equipment logistics, participant check-ins, and overall engagement across multiple locations (Raleigh and Cary).
- Provide on-field coaching support or assist with group management during camp weeks as required.
- Handle administrative responsibilities, such as registration adjustments, refunds, group assignments, and customer support.
Qualifications & Competencies
- This position provides an opportunity to gain experience in event management, youth programming, and soccer operations. Ideal candidates are passionate about sports, eager to learn, and committed to delivering a positive experience for participants and families.
- Background in soccer (playing, coaching, or related work experience) is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with participants, parents, and colleagues.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and comfort learning new technology or systems.
Job Type Requirements:
- This internship is an hourly nonexempt paid position.
- The traditional work hours for this job are combined office hours during the day/week along with evening and weekend hours on the field and at remote sites, but it is expected this person will work extra hours as needed to fulfill all job requirements.
Work Environment/Travel/Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Some of this person’s job is conducted in the office, but regularly, work will require this employee to attend outdoor youth sporting events during the summer, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather, to fulfill job responsibilities and event support.
- Physical demands: bending, sitting, lifting, and event set-up.
