JOB SUMMARY
The Invasive Cardiovascular Technology Specialist plays a crucial role during cardiovascular procedures, primarily in Scrub and Monitoring capacities. This position assists the team in delivering direct patient care and demonstrates expertise in various cardiovascular interventions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes sterile process to assist physicians during procedures, maintaining a sterile field, anticipating needs, and understanding the proper preparation of invasive devices.
- Practices proper radiation safety protocols for all participants, including patients and staff.
- Assists in patient care within scope of practice, reporting observed changes in patient status to cardiologists and RNs.
- Ensures safe medication administration during physician-assisted procedures.
- Communicates unresolved issues regarding monitoring documentation prior to patient discharge from the procedure room.
- Participates in pre-verification checklists and time outs to enhance patient safety.
- Documents events accurately and timely, aligning with hospital and unit standards, including specific procedure details.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of imaging and interventional equipment, documenting any failures promptly.
- Completes patient care assignments within the designated shift timeframe.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to support high-quality patient outcomes.
- Populates essential ACC data for required registries such as Cath-PCI and ICD.
