JOB TITLE: IEP Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: YIT School
REPORTS TO: Vice-President of Education and Organizational Learning
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The IEP Coordinator’s overall responsibility is to prepare and conduct IEP meetings, maintain student records, and assist in the implementation of Academic Support Specialist supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Facilitates IEP meetings.
Ø Communicates to local school systems, parents, and outside agencies.
Ø Conducts trainings for teachers, Academic Support Specialist, and related service providers.
Ø Amends IEP’s as needed.
Ø Reviews records and ensures compliance with COMAR.
Ø Works effectively with other staff members in the interdisciplinary setting to address students’ needs.
Ø Participates effectively in Interdisciplinary Meetings, staff/teacher meetings, Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee Meetings, Planning Conferences, in-service training programs, faculty meetings.
Ø Provides guidance and direction to assigned Academic Support Specialist, ensuring that the Academic Support Specialist demonstrates a participating role within the classroom.
Ø Expands on and adapt current curriculum programs to meet student needs.
Ø Develops individualized education plans for all assigned students.
Ø Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with Academic Support Specialists
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Ø MSDE Certification as a special education teacher preferred.
Ø Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
Ø Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ø Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ø Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ø Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ø Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ø Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ø Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ø Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ø Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and school environment and community.
Ø Maintain a safe work environment for students and other staff.
Ø Maintains professional demeanor including language, behavior and attire.
Ø Exhibits dependability arriving to work on time, keeping to schedule, and following proper procedure for work absences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ø This position will require the incumbent to walk, stand, sit, reach, lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Ø Agility and quick reflexes are needed in the event of aggressive behaviors exhibited by the clients served.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ø Mostly indoor environment, but occasional travel outside of the building for meetings, presentations.
Ø Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers, printers, active students, moderate traffic).

Pay: $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
