Job Summary:
NCS Engineers has added a full-time position for mechanical, chemical, civil, or environmental project engineers with experience in Water/Wastewater Treatment to join us as Project Engineer in our Water/Wastewater treatment department at our Phoenix, AZ and Houston, TX locations. This position offers challenging technical and professional opportunities working on the leading edge, high-tech water and wastewater treatment design projects providing innovative treatment design services for municipal clients.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, chemical, environmental, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years in design engineering with a focus on water/wastewater treatment.
• Passed the FE exam OR ability to take (and pass) the exam within 1 year of start date.
Qualifications/Skills Requirements:
Expertise in the following:
• Ability to demonstrate familiarity and experience with water/wastewater treatment processes.
• Working knowledge of civil, mechanical, piping, and equipment design.
• Working knowledge of water/wastewater treatment design (filtration, chemical feed systems, activated sludge, solids handling, biological treatment, and disinfection).
• Ability to demonstrate CAD design experience.
• Ability to integrate design of overall facility with pumping system and storage tanks.
• Basic knowledge of material properties and corrosion.
• Organized and self-motivated, strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Possess excellent time-management skills, thorough understanding of task assignments and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and available resources.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including detailed report preparation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Excellent computer, math and English skills.
• Ability to drive to work, including remote job sites.
• Ability to travel for work up to 10% of the time.
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Knowledge of advanced treatment equipment such as MF, UF, NF, RO, and ceramic membranes, DAF, ozone, dewatering devices, chemical feed systems, ion-exchange, absorption, etc.
• Ability to manage and work independently on design projects.
• Microsoft Project experience.
• Hydraulics and/or treatment modeling software experience (i.e. AFT Fathorn, Biowin by EnviroSim, etc.).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Specify and design water/wastewater treatment, piping, and plumbing systems including facility and equipment layout, and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare design reports for process design and hydraulic criteria for water/wastewater treatment, advanced treatment (RO/UF/GAC/UV, etc.), and treatment residual handling systems projects as well as, municipal water, groundwater, and biological wastewater treatment projects.
• Be responsive to clients’ needs and keep department managers informed of progress on projects.
• Practice safe work practices by following Company safety rules and OSHA regulations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift, up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to travel to various job sites and traverse locations to obtain necessary data.
