Position Summary
The Manager, IT Engineering is a critical role responsible for leading a team of engineers to design, implement and maintain the company’s information technology systems and software. Reporting to the VP, IT, this role’s primary focus is to ensure the steady operation and continued improvement of our ever-evolving campus in Bradenton, Florida. This role serves as a face of technology to the campus business and as a mentor & technical lead for other engineers and support staff on the team. IMG Academy’s industry-leading Technology team has grown over the past year and has supported the launch of new sports and is innovating in the use of data, analytics, and sports technology. An exciting time of growth for IMG Academy, this pivotal role will help IMG Academy further its status as a leader in sports technology in addition to already being the world leader in sports education. This role works with Technical Project Managers and Architects on large enterprise-wide projects, partners with Infrastructure, Security and other Engineering teams, as well as directly with business units to understand, identify and solve their technology needs.
Position Responsibilities
On Campus Leadership (Coach)
Provide guidance & leadership to a team of engineers across multiple disciplines, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment with clear goals and expectations.
Offer thoughtful and timely coaching and effective feedback of individual contributor IT engineers, supporting the career development of the team, and growing a talent base.
Maintain and improve our sustainable set of IT engineering practices adopting empirically proven methods and research, driving their adoption across the team.
Act as one of the primary faces of technology for the campus business.
Technical Focus (Player)
IT Physical Infrastructure Management: Oversee the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of the physical infrastructure on campus including but not limited to: Cisco & Meraki networking, Nutanix hyperconvergence, physical access control systems, point-of-sale, office-based and specialty athletic audio-visual systems, and a fleet of corporate owned endpoints.
IT Cloud Infrastructure Management: Partner with our Corporate IT Engineering team to help oversee the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of critical IT systems including but not limited to: Okta, Zoom, Azure AD, Exchange Online, Intune, Jamf, Defender, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, and other related services.
Technology Delivery: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze, design, and deploy information technology solutions that meet the needs of our employees and students. Ensure the seamless delivery of hardware, software, and peripherals to a range of remote, BYOD, and on-campus employees.
Security and Compliance: Stay updated with industry best practices and partner with our internal Information Security team to ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to align technology strategies and ensure effective communication channels are established. Foster a positive working environment and provide guidance to junior team members.
Project Management: Lead and participate in technology projects related to employee technology delivery. Define project goals, timelines, and resource requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, or a related field and/or [8] years equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5 years of senior experience in corporate IT engineering
Minimum 3 years of experience leading an engineering team in an organization with 1000 employees in a large on-premises environment
Strong IT project management skills with experience leading internal and system integrator teams.
Expert-level knowledge of Physical infrastructure (virtualization, storage), Microsoft 365 suite, Okta as IDP and core directory, and MDM solutions.
Strong understanding in Active Directory, Azure AD, and other related technologies.
Strong understanding of core networking technologies, preferably Cisco.
Proficiency in some form of scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
Strong understanding of Windows and or Linux Server admin, and cloud administration (AWS or Azure).
Proven team leader comfortable finding innovative solutions to solve emerging business problems.
Demonstrated experience of successful management, development and deployment of IT projects that meet business requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
Ability to understand, support and communicate senior management goals and decisions.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, synchronous and asynchronous.
