NCTA seeks a Coordinator, State Government Relations who will be responsible for providing high-level administrative and organizational support to the State Government Relations (SGR) team, ensuring smooth operations and effective coordination of legislative tracking, research, and internal communications.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies, summarizes, and monitors state legislation; flags key developments for the SGR team.
  • Maintains and updates legislative tracking databases and draft legislative reports.
  • Tracks and summarizes implementation of the BEAD (Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment) program and monitors related news and updates.
  • Compiles daily news clips and provides research support for state broadband infrastructure grants and other initiatives.
  • Addresses research inquiries and prepares summaries or reports as needed.
  • Manages departmental trackers, spreadsheets, memos, and distribution lists.
  • Schedules and supports key meetings, including taking minutes and flagging action items.
  • Assists with organizing events and conferences, including logistical support, outreach, and promotional materials.
  • Maintains SGR document repositories and ensures timely updates to the Resource Center.
  • Serves as a liaison between NCTA, member companies, and local intergovernmental associations (IGA) staff.
  • Monitors IGA agendas for relevant issues and opportunities for engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Background/Skills/Abilities Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative or government relations support role.
  • Knowledge of state and local government processes and legislative tracking systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database management tools.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Quorum, Zoom, Box, and MailChimp is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with internal teams, executives, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and anticipate team needs.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and responsibilities.
  • Some travel required.

Hybrid Work Schedule

NCTA currently operates on a hybrid schedule. All hires are expected to work in the office located in Washington, D.C. In-office days are Tuesday  - Thursday, with additional days as needed in the role.
