INTERN - STRAT COMMS

Internship Program | NCTA-The Internet & Television Association

The NCTA Summer Internship Program is a 9-week opportunity that provides exposure into advocacy on behalf of the internet and television industry. Throughout the program, you will gain new skills, expand your professional network, and develop a deeper understanding of how we serve our members. This role is designed to challenge you and be influential to a future career. Opportunities are available in several departments of the organization that serve varying functions.

Program Features

• Assigned peer mentor to help introduce you to NCTA’s culture and values.
• Participate in professional development, events/seminars and networking events.
• Learn about and visit Capitol Hill
• Collaborate with seasoned professionals.
• Lunch with the CEO.
• Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions.

Compensation 

• Pay: Undergraduate - $20.00 per hour     Graduate-$25.00 per hour
• Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.

Timeline of Program 

What You Bring To NCTA

• Be an undergraduate entering your sophomore, junior or senior year or graduate student.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be curious, creative and have strong critical thinking skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with the the following platforms: Airtable, Zoom, Box.
• Able to commit at minimum of 3 working days per week.

Strategic Communications:

The Strategic Communications team directs a variety of activities that support NCTA’s public policy and advocacy efforts in addition to overseeing and promoting the organization’s brand. 

Communications Intern 

Responsibilities and Projects:  

• Prepares social media copy/posts.
• Drafts and publishes website content including blog posts.
• Works with graphic designers to develop static and interactive content.
• Explores AI tools that can enhance communications.
• Tracks digital/online media for broadband mentions in various states. 
• Assists in the development of various newsletters and grassroots alerts.
• Works with the digital communications team to develop presentations and other external-facing material.

Communications Intern Requirements:

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• High level of comfort with social media and other online platforms.
• Strong writer with a keen eye for engaging content.
