Internship Program | NCTA-The Internet & Television Association
The NCTA Summer Internship Program is a 9-week opportunity that provides exposure into advocacy on behalf of the internet and television industry. Throughout the program, you will gain new skills, expand your professional network, and develop a deeper understanding of how we serve our members. This role is designed to challenge you and be influential to a future career. Opportunities are available in several departments of the organization that serve varying functions.
Program Features
- Assigned peer mentor to help introduce you to NCTA’s culture and values.
- Participate in professional development, events/seminars and networking events.
- Learn about and visit Capitol Hill
- Collaborate with seasoned professionals.
- Lunch with the CEO.
- Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions.
Compensation
- Pay: Undergraduate - $20.00 per hour Graduate-$25.00 per hour
- Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
Timeline of Program
- June 2nd – August 8th
What You Bring To NCTA
- Be an undergraduate entering your sophomore, junior or senior year or graduate student.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be curious, creative and have strong critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with the the following platforms: Airtable, Zoom, Box.
- Able to commit at minimum of 3 working days per week.
Technology:
The Technology team provides technical expertise and analysis on broadband and emerging technology trends to support NCTA members and staff. The department drives the industry’s engagement in techno-policy, standards, and guidelines across key areas, including broadband Internet performance, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and wireless spectrum.
Technology Intern
Responsibilities and Projects:
- Conducts research on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the communications sector and present key findings at the end of the summer.
- Supports cybersecurity research and analysis in preparation for collaborative initiatives between the communications sector and government agencies.
- Assists with the U.S. Cyber Trustmark program in coordination with the FCC.
- Helps organize in-person Working Group meetings and assist with event planning.
- Attends industry events alongside Technology team members to explore cutting-edge technologies and inform policy discussions.
- Participates in and documents technical briefing calls with NCTA members.
- Monitors and analyzes FCC Open Meetings, providing summaries on key topics such as spectrum policy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and broadband technologies.
- Contributes to policy-related initiatives on topics including CBRS band and Wi-Fi technology.
- Reviews and updates existing training materials to ensure relevance and accuracy.
Technology Intern Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, telecommunications, cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Strong research, analytical, and technical writing skills.
- Interest in broadband, spectrum policy, AI, cybersecurity, and emerging communications technologies.
