Interns – Contract Services and Risk Management

The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking Interns to provide support in contract and risk management-related services, especially focused on research, asset management, compliance, and contract and risk coordination. Ideal candidates should attend school in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and be able to work at least 20 hours per week while attending school.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Researching statutes, regulations, and funding agency guidance
• Drafting and preparing documents such as contracts, policies and procedures, legal research, presentations, and transmittals for supervisor review
• Entering data into spreadsheets and databases
• Compiling lists and reports
• Working with supervisor to create flowcharts and other process documents
• Other general administrative assignments as assigned

Required Skills

• Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing the quality of work
• Good communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with team members, and present ideas
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel

Required Education and Experience

• Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment
• No work experience required

Starting Salary

Minimum of $17.00 per hour

The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise.
