Adult and Aging Services- Bismarck/Mandan, ND - Assistant Director

As an Assistant Director in the ND HHS Adult & Aging Services Section, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing special projects, supervising staff, and ensuring smooth operations in the absence of the Director. Your primary responsibility will be assisting in the administration of the Section, which includes overseeing budget development, decision-making, signing authority for contracts, payments, and legal documents. You will represent the Department on various task forces, committees, and meetings and collaborate with the Director to sustain and expand programs and services. A significant aspect of your role will involve researching and interpreting federal and state regulations and ensuring compliance.

To be successful in this position, you must be experienced in program and project management, possess a strong background in budget oversight, and demonstrate the ability to analyze complex data. You understand the importance of community living and remain person-centered, dedicated to serving people in the most integrated setting. You should be adept at coordinating teams, managing timelines, and maintaining a strategic focus in an environment marked by change. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for preparing reports and engaging with a range of stakeholders. Your expertise will be crucial in assisting with the development of a statewide funding plan and overseeing the implementation of special projects, such as the Multi-generational Plan on Aging.

To be considered for the Assistant Director position, you must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field AND at least five years of program and project management experience, including supervisory experience. Experience in budgeting, change management, and data analysis is also required. This position demands a strategic mindset, flexibility, and the ability to pivot as circumstances evolve.

Location:
ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position is based in Bismarck and is eligible to work from home with the ability and willingness to work during regular business hours.
