The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge / skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. This is a full-time salaried position. The hours of the position will be 7 : 00 AM – 4 : 00 PM Monday through Friday with rotating on-call requirements.
Summary Description :
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Process Control Engineer to join our team at ND Paper. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process control systems. This role requires a hands-on professional capable of optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
A Process Control Engineer at the Rumford Mill is primarily responsible for the optimization of the mill’s process measurement and control systems. The mill’s control systems are connected to a variety of sensors and actuators that continuously measure, regulate, and manage the pulp and paper manufacturing processes and equipment. The work of a Process Control Engineer crosses many areas and disciplines including project management, Control System Engineering, DCS / PLC programming, chemistry, electrical, mathematics, quality and of course, pulp & paper science.
Job Responsibilities :
- Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work
- Design, develop, and maintain control systems for pulp and paper manufacturing processes.
- Configure, program, and troubleshoot Honeywell DCS , Allen-Bradley PLCs and Siemens PLC’s to ensure optimal system performance.
- Analyze process data to identify and resolve control issues, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to implement process improvements.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including control logic diagrams, system schematics, and operational manuals.
- Provide technical support during system startups, shutdowns, and troubleshooting activities.
- Train plant personnel on the use and maintenance of control systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards in all control system operations.
- Continually search for opportunities to improve control performance & reduce cost
- Develop five (5) year plan for upgrading obsolete equipment to maintain reliability.
