NDI Engineering is looking for a technical editor to join our team at NAVAIR in Lakehurst to execute the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Parts Management, Nomenclature Assignment, and Defense Standardization Program (DSP) functions.
This role will support the process for developing and agreeing on uniform engineering criteria for products, processes, practices, and methods for achieving compatibility, interoperability, interchangeability or commonality of material. This role also manages the command s DSP process to develop/maintain the naval aviation technical requirements in military specifications, standards, handbooks, commercial item descriptions, federal standards, and standards produced by non-government and international standards
Role and Responsibilities:

This role also manages the command s DSP process to develop/maintain the naval aviation technical requirements in military specifications, standards, handbooks, commercial item descriptions, federal standards, and standards produced by non-government and international standards
Role and Responsibilities:
- Serve as Technical Editor for naval aviation DSP specifications and standards, including ALRE Program.
- Collaborate with technical staff on document creation, editing, and coordination through initiation, preparation, comment resolution, proofreading, format review, and submission.
- Manage NAVAIR documents, review Electronic Validation Notices, and handle document transfers and reassignment.
- Oversee the editorial process to ensure policy and procedural compliance, utilizing word processing, publishing, spreadsheets, and graphics software.
- Review draft policy documents, providing editorial and compliance feedback.
- Edit technical requirements to align with Defense Standardization Program policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative and analytical support, creating and maintaining record systems for management studies and reports.
- Maintain database and collaborate with SMEs to add newly qualified manufacturers.
- Act as liaison between NAVAIR and developers to resolve issues with document entry and maintenance, tracking and addressing both internal and external problems.
- BS Degree with concentration in Sciences, Engineering, or Communications is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be US citizen eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Onsite in Lakehurst, NJ.
- Must be capable of providing procedural, formatting, and editing guidance to engineering /technical specialists resulting in the development of technical requirements documents
- General knowledge of the Naval Air Systems Command organization, the DOD weapons systems acquisition process, and the function of the standardization documents in the naval aviation system/equipment life cycle.
- Knowledge of commercial software covering word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, graphics, and related functions in a PC network and web based environment.
