NMG is a large, commercial growing operation, providing quality plants and service to our clients for over thirty years. Our greenhouses cover 25 acres under glass 20 acres of outdoor space in four locations and employ 250 people year around. We are a premier grower, located in northwest Grand Rapids, and service national accounts in 48 states. Our Mast Young Plants division was formed in 2007, and the partnership of young plants and finished goods gives Neal Mast Greenhouses the unique advantage of ensuring premium quality from beginning to end. The MYP facility has 250,000 square feet of indoor production, producing millions of vegetative liners and seed plugs annually. MYP carries a complete assortment from more than 40 sources of young plant material.

The primary role of the Maintenance Technician is to carry out tasks scheduled by the Lead Maintenance Technician. These tasks are performed indoors and outdoors all seasons to make sure facilities are well maintained and equipment is operating properly and efficiently. This allows the other departments to execute their daily responsibilities and for the company to service its customers. Pay is dependent on experience, we start at $18 and increase from there.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be accountable for completing daily tasks (including but not limited to) basic electrical, plumbing and mechanical skills on a variety of equipment and building facilities.
- Practice safe work procedures in order to avoid injury to self and others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Hours/Days: Hourly position based on 45 hours per week, willing to work additional hours as needed based on seasonal demand. Share on call-responsibilities.
Education: High School diploma/GED.
Experience: 1-3 years of greenhouse experience or equivalent work experience in maintenance, construction or plumbing. Basic torch, welding and fabrication skills. Must be able to operate a variety of power tools and equipment. Maintain Forklift Certification and a valid Driver’s License.
Abilities/Strengths: Must be mechanically inclined and have persistence in problem solving. Must be able to multitask and have good time management to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb and perform tasks on ladders or roof (20-25ft). Must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry short distance. Will spend a majority of the day walking or on your feet. Must be able to drive between locations and navigate all areas of multiple locations. Must be able to speak/listen on the telephone and hear buzzers, horns and alarms.
Environment: Greenhouse, outdoor growing fields, office, cooler, mechanical rooms and boiler rooms.
