What are the responsibilities and job description for the Garden Center Merchandiser position at Neal Mast & Son Greenhouses?
The Neal Mast Greenhouses Seasonal Merchandiser is responsible for effectively merchandising and maintaining live goods presentation in Walmart Garden Centers as a part of the Neal Mast Garden Center Merchandising program. This position requires an individual that is service focused, can communicate corporate garden center direction, and train Walmart associates on best Garden Center practices. Effective merchandising has a positive effect on retail sales. Pricing, displays, product packaging and arrangements, can all drive sales upward while improving the shopping experience for your customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Weekly store visits to assigned stores to unload and work all applicable lives good being delivered to the store.
- Build and replenish Impact displays in key locations as directed by your supervisor.
- Assist stores with understanding and following their Garden Center layouts and watering/merchandising best practices.
- Communicate Walmart Corporate Garden Center direction to Walmart store employees.
- Communicate product flow, over-stock/under-stock opportunities and other feedback to supervisor.
- Report store opportunities to supervisor immediately.
- Clock in and out using the appliable time keeping applications as required by Walmart and Neal Mast.
- Water plants when needed and able.
REQUIREMENTS:
Hours/Days: Variable schedule (based on number of stores assigned) from 10-45 hours per week – must be flexible. Weekends are required during peak seasons of spring and fall.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Requirements: Must have reliable transportation, smart phone, and computer access.
Experience: Previous customer service or retail experience. Previous experience in merchandising, training or teaching a plus.
Abilities/Strengths: Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills, time management and able to multi-task. Able to work well with a team and be self motivated when working unsupervised.
Physical Requirements: Able and available to travel to and/or between stores. Must be able to spend a long periods of time on your feet. Must be able to lift, move, carry – pots and/or trays of flowers and hanging baskets weighing up to 30 lbs. Must be able to push/pull rolling racks of potted plants weighing up to 500 lbs (with assistance on heavy racks). Majority of work environment will be in Lawn and Garden Centers in all kinds of weather.
