Responsibilities of the Wound Ostomy and Continence RN (WOCN)
- Work within a highly collegial and collaborative environment and be viewed as a trusted WOC specialist
- Recommend a plan of care for patients throughout their post-operative course across General, Colorectal and Urology
- Provides expert clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers
- Determines nursing care for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs with respect to wound and ostomy care
Requirements for the Wound Ostomy and Continence RN (WOCN)
- RN Active License State of Georgia
- Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program
- Current Wound, Ostomy and Continence Certification
- Minimum five (5) years of total nursing experience
- Minimum two (2) years of recent WOC nursing experience
- Current BLS certification
