Near North Health, a longstanding pillar of Chicago's healthcare landscape, is seeking a visionary and compassionate Medical Biller & Coder to join our dedicated team. Since our inception in 1966, we have remained committed to our mission of providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality primary healthcare services to all, regardless of their financial circumstances. 

As Medical Biller & Coder, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to serve primarily low-income uninsured or underinsured residents of Chicago's medically underserved communities. Your expertise in processing and managing patient healthcare claims submitted to insurance companies will further solidify our position as one of the largest providers of community-based primary care in the city. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Billing Administrator: Responsible for transmitting billing for Medical, Behavioral Health, Optometry, Dental, In-Patient claims, and Ancillary services.
• Insurance Payments: Download remittances from various insurance portal systems.
• Payments Processing: Post manual and electronic payments into the Practice Management system.
• Reconciliation: Reconcile remittance vouchers against transmissions and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
• Billing: Collect, post, and manage account payments.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent, Associate Degree (Business Admin) preferred.  

Required Licensure and/ or Certification: 

CBCS (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist)

CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or Equivalent

CCA (Certified Coding Associate) or Equivalent

CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or

CPC-A (Certified Professional Coder –Apprentice)

Minimum Experience: Up to two years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably within a nonprofit medical setting or a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is required.
