About the job:
Are you a proven and experienced title researcher who thrives on the challenge of investigating records of property to discover vital data? Near North is looking for a Residential Title Examiner/Underwriter to perform title examinations, produce title commitments and other materials, work in partnership with counsel and outside agents, while upholding the highest level of customer service. We provide a collaborative, energetic, team environment. Our company is a growing title insurance operation with multi-state market presence and national outreach.
As the Residential Title Examiner, you will be a central part of the title issuance process, serving as support for our underwriting team, and making certain that communication with customers and team members is timely, thorough and accurate. You will examine public records, prepare and issue title commitments and help customers and team members attain answers to questions.
What you bring to the table:
- 2-3 years of title examiner/underwriter experience.
- College degree preferred.
- Title Insurance licenses or willing to obtain in first 30-60 days.
- Proficient computer skills.
- SoftPro experience a plus.
- Experience working for a title company preferred.
- High degree of accuracy, thoroughness and the ability to make sound decisions.
- Excellent research and organizational skills.
You’ll be working on:
- Examining title orders and documents obtained from search to determine the conditions of the title and insurability by considering the effect of documents such as deeds, mortgages, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probate and other matters of record.
- Verifying correct metes and bonus/lot and block legal descriptions based on record documents and other documents provided.
- Identifying and/or determining title requirements needing resolution.
- Recognizing title defects and formulating curative requirements.
- Prepare title commitments, search reports and other documents, in compliance with state statute, underwriting standards and company policies.
- Maintaining proper production levels and delivery standards on a daily basis.
- Assisting customers and team members with title questions and services.
- Utilizing various documents, files, websites and title search and production software.
