NEARI School is a private, nonprofit special education day program serving students ages 7-22. We provide a supportive, trauma-informed environment that integrates best practices in education and treatment, helping students develop self-advocacy, mastery, and empowerment skills. Our approach emphasizes individualized learning, neurodevelopmental strategies, and strengths-based interventions.
Position Overview
The Educational Coordinator plays a key role in overseeing daily educational operations, ensuring alignment with state educational standards, supervising teachers and classroom staff, and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Reporting to the Educational Administrator/Program Director , this position ensures that NEARI’s academic programming is of the highest quality and produces positive student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership & Operations
Supervise, mentor, and support teachers, including co-teaching, facilitating meetings.
Coach teachers in best practices for diverse learners, neurodevelopmental approaches, and brain-based learning readiness.
Maintain and update academic and elective schedules.
Ensure that lessons align with state educational standards and that classrooms run effectively.
Assist in staff hiring by reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and making recommendations.
Provide teacher coverage and ensure substitute teachers have lesson plans.
Oversee professional development in areas of expertise.
Support operations in the absence of middle manager leadership.
Lead or assist with student interventions as needed.
IEP Development & Coordination
Participate in team meetings to draft and refine IEPs.
Oversee the implementation of IEPs, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
Attend all meetings with external stakeholders related to student support.
MCAS Process Coordination
Develop MCAS testing schedules and oversee internal test administration.
Ensure students receive accommodations as outlined in their IEPs.
Analyze scores and coordinate curriculum adjustments based on results.
Quarterly Reporting & Special Programs
Oversee the completion and dissemination of quarterly grades and IEP progress reports.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to parents, guardians, and service providers.
Assist with planning and coordinating special events and summer programming.
Staff Coordination & Training
Attend and facilitate staff meetings, ensuring efficient communication.
Coordinate vacation schedules to maintain program integrity.
Supervise teachers, classroom aides, and substitutes.
Provide MCAS training for teachers and proctors.
Train teachers on accessing and using the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in primary or secondary education.
Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and motivate a team of educators and staff.
Organizational & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to oversee multiple responsibilities while ensuring compliance with educational policies.
Communication: Strong written and verbal skills to interact with students, parents, teachers, and stakeholders.
Knowledge of Education Policies: Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations.
Commitment to Student Success: Passion for fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into teaching and learning.
Community Engagement: Ability to build positive relationships with families and stakeholders.

Competitive salary based on experience and industry standards for private nonprofit special education programs in Western Massachusetts.
Full-time (38.75 hours per week) with eligibility for full benefits.
Annual bonus potential, as determined by the Executive Director.
