Summary: The roles and responsibilities for the production Supervisor are to work with the manager(s) of production in making sure quality parts are manufactured in a lean environment.
Reports To: Assistant manager of production
Responsibilities
- Assure the quality of the process and parts
- Ensure start up checks, 1st article checks, poky yoke verifications
- Verify associates are following SWI & key point check sheets
- Maintain control of poky yoke parts and limit samples
- Take immediate action when NG parts are discovered and prevent NG parts from being shipped
- Meet the daily production targets
- Maintain production communication boards, plan vs actual
- Develop recovery plan if production quantity is not met
- Report production delays daily to manager
- Manage department manpower
- Manage department absence to maintain production
- Eliminate unplanned overtime (if occurs – develop countermeasures)
- Report associate loss and request replacement
- Control/approve associates working time for payroll
- Supervise the associates
- Ensure the associates are following NRI policies
- Teach the standard operations to the associates
- Maintain department ILU charts and proper cross training
- Share company information with associates during shift change meeting
- Collect production data (OEE)
- Ensure data is collected and reported correctly
- Maintain production communication boards
- Ensure data is entered daily as required and account for discrepancies
- Maintain/direct department 6S and safety activities
- Develop department 6S activity plan
- Ensure associates are completing daily 6S required activities
- Conduct kaizen activities
- Develop countermeasure activities for production items not meeting the plan
- Share information with other shift supervisors
- Adhere to and enforce all TS16949 requirements
- Any additional duties assigned by the manager
Requirements
- Understanding of quality assurance practices
- Knowledgeable in start-up, first article, and poky yoke checks
- Knowledgeable in SWI and key point check sheets
- Understand part quality requirements and can explain to associates
- Associate control
- Understand NRI policies and application to associates
- Manage associate absence and vacation to maintain production
- Conduct work observation on associates
- Production planning/productivity capability
- Understanding of OEE and effect on production plan
- Create countermeasures when production plan not met
- Production data collection/reporting
- Understanding of data collections/reporting system
- Maintain production planning boards
- Can instruct associates on data collection requirements
- Understanding of Kaizen activities
- Ability to see items/process needing improvement
- Can lead cross functional teams in improvement activities
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Working knowledge with electronics and hydraulics
- Working knowledge of JD Edwards, MS Word, Excel
- Highschool diploma / GED
