What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Nebraska Care Givers?
Nebraska Care Givers has an immediate need for two (2) Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Positions will be 35 hours/week. One position will be 10 hours/day Sunday through Tuesday plus 5 hours on Wednesday. The other position will be 5 hours on Wednesday plus 10 hours/day Thursday through Saturday. Must enjoy going to local sporting events, watching sports on tv, and providing hands-on daily living assistance for a young adult male. The pay scale for these two positions is $16-$20 per hour depending on experience.
Training will include reading company training materials and taking associated open book tests (trainee will complete these from their home computer), plus 2-4 days of on-the-job training.
Candidates with previous experience in providing direct services to developmentally disabled individuals and with current First Aid/CPR and Med Aide will be given priority consideration.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will support people in learning the skills needed to increase their independence in areas of life such as community involvement, job skills, education, personal health, and daily living skills.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with daily tasks/chores like cooking, cleaning, medication management
- Support individuals to practice and maintain good hygiene
- Run errands such as shopping and going to appointments
- Encourage and foster individuals’ hobbies and interests
- Provide habilitation & documentation
- Follow health & safety protocols
What You’ll Need:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance
- Reliable vehicle to transport during shift
- Full range of motion, physical strength, and the ability to achieve and maintain training and certifications
- Successfully complete and pass all background checks including:
Ø Nebraska Adult Protective Services Central Registry
Ø Child Protective Services Central Registry
Ø Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Background Check
Ø Federal Bureau of Investigation Background Check
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid driver's license/ Current Insurance
- First Aid/ CPR (training provided by designated local provider)
- NE DHHS MedAide Registration (training will be provided by NE Care Givers)
