Job Title: Kinship Navigation Supervisor
Job Classification (Exempt or Non-exempt): Exempt
Reports To: Pregnancy, Parenting and Adoption Program Director

Job Summary: Supervises the service and administrative functions related to the direct delivery of kinship navigation services. Oversight of program contracts and administration of services according to program structure and programming models. Responsible for program development, service design, procedure development, resource acquisition and organization, and service evaluation. Responsible for direct service delivery according to contract requirements and as needed. Responsible for supporting kinship families through identifying specific needs, teaming with families to create a comprehensive support plan, connecting families with community resources, helping families navigate community systems, assisting families in growing their support network, and providing educational opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides administrative and supervisory oversight for the delivery of Kinship Navigation services.
    • Provides direct supervision to Kinship Navigators.
    • Coordinates, guides and/or administer training to Kinship Navigators.
    • Coordinates, guides and monitors all kinship navigation activities.
    • Supervises, administers and evaluates established service procedures for the program and modifies and develops new approaches in line with model fidelity.
    • Adheres to confidentiality requirements and ensures maintenance of confidentiality of program records and communications.
    • Provides direct service according to the program contracts and as required.

  • Assists in maintaining the credentialing, licensing and fiscal solvency of the program.
    • Audits records and protocol to ensure quality and adherence to model fidelity, credentialing, licensing requirements and COA standards.
    • Provides oversight for service delivery contracts and compliance with contractual requirements, including necessary documentation and submission of required reports.
    • Provides budget input for the Kinship Navigation program and provides input for budget development process.
    • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement efforts, including submission of necessary reports.
    • Tracks and reports on program outcomes as determined by NCHS and contractual requirements.
  • Cultivates relationships and partnerships within the community.
    • Maintains relationships with key stakeholders in the community and participates in community groups, committees, task forces, etc. that are relevant to kinship navigation services and the Pregnancy, Parenting and Adoption Department.
    • Represents NCHS at local, statewide and national meetings and events as requested.
    • Supports the mission, vision and values of NCHS
  • Connects kinship families to community resources and help families navigate community systems to ensure the needs of all family members are being met.
    • Team with the kinship family to complete formalized assessments to identify needs;
    • Create a comprehensive support plan based on the kinship family’s identified needs;
    • Connect kinship families to resources available in the community;
    • Assist kinship families in applying for community assistance as needed;
    • Provide education, support, and advocacy to kinship families as they navigate community systems;
    • Conduct educational support groups for kinship families;
    • Assist families in enhancing their natural support system.
  • Develop community alliances and collaborate with community systems and resource providers to ensure adequate resources exist for kinship families.
    • Continuously assess community resources to identify what needs are not being met;
    • Collaborate with other community providers to create resources that are needed, but not available;
    • Assist in ensuring kinship families have access to the website and phone access line;
    • Provide education to community partners on kinship navigation services;

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or director.
  • Bilingual (preferred)
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum education and experience;
    • Master's Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services or related filed required;
    • Minimum of two (2) years supervision experience;
    • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience working with children and families.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
    • Ability to connect with and engage families and other professionals;
    • Knowledge and experience with navigating complex family systems;
    • Ability to manage multiple demands;
    • Ability to problem solve complex issues;
    • Knowledge of the resources available in Nebraska;
    • Capacity to interpret and abide by NCHS policies and procedures;
    • Possess high quality written and verbal skills;
    • Knowledge of computer operations;
    • Ability to work independently and self manage;
    • Possession of a vehicle with required licensing and insurance coverage for travel to family homes and meetings;
    • Current driver's license;
  • Physical Demands:
    • The ability to frequently communicate with NCHS team members and community partnerships.
    • Able to inspect written communication and respond to directions and hazards.
    • Able to move equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
    • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs in the building and home structures.
    • Able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
    • Able to remain in a stationary position and move about different work environments.
    • This position requires access to reliable and safe transportation. A copy of insurance and registration will be required upon hiring.
  • Schedule Demands:
    • Ability to adjust normal work schedule to accommodate the needs of families, including evening and weekend work.
  • Site Factors (work location, environment, travel, etc.):
    • Work in office setting and/or remotely.
    • Local travel will be required with state-wide travel on occasion for meetings.

Salary/Wage: $55,000/year - $60,000/year, depending on education and experience
