Crete Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the position of a Band Teacher for grades 7-12 for the 2025-2026 school year. The Band Teacher is responsible for teaching instrumental music, directing band(s), and prepare students for performances and competitions.

Professional exemption: The employee has a primary duty of performing work requiring knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction and study or has a primary duty of teaching, tutoring, instructing, or lecturing in the activity of imparting knowledge and is employed and engaged in this activity as a teacher.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, Instrumental Music, or related field
- Nebraska Teaching Certificate with music endorsement
- Satisfactory completion of criminal background check
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students
- Observe and evaluate students'; performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Instruct through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more subjects, such as
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress.
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Assign lessons and correct homework.
- Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
- Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to
- Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to
- Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's' progress and to determine priorities
- Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests.
- Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students'; needs and progress.
- Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.
- Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate
- Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring,
- Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student
- Organize and supervise games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential
- Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Serve as a role model to all students.
- Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District's
