Job Description

What You Will Do As An Accountant II
Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics or related field and experience with accounting/financial management systems OR 2 years’ experience with professional accounting procedures including developing and modifying accounting/financial management systems.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior participation in a team environment, skilled with business math, flexible and adaptable, problem solving, and can manage multiple priorities. Experience with multiple accounting systems, self-development, customer service, advanced Excel, and appreciation of collaborative, team-based work. Interest in continuous learning, growth as well as supporting Nebraskans needing assistance with Medicaid Title 469 - Community Based Medicaid annual redetermination eligibility.
Other: Position is located on-site at the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln.
Hiring rate: Available wage that will be offered is $24.298 / hr.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge of: generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices and standards; budgeting techniques and methods; record keeping methods; federal and State laws and regulations applicable to accounting/finance operations. Enterprise One (E1) and Nebraska Family Online Client User System (N-Focus) knowledge preferred; however, willing to train.
Skill in: using mathematical methods or formulas to compare, analyze and present data; compiling data from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive documents or reports. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and expertise with Excel. Correspond with Nebraskans via telephone or written form.
Ability to: manage time and competing priorities; learn and apply the principles and concepts of specific agency programs, policies and operating details of an accounting system; effectively communicate to exchange and extract information and explain information to various audiences.

- Deposit monies of miscellaneous receivables, process monthly payments, daily receipts, and handle related documents.
- Maintain supporting deposit documents and files.
- Review entries for accuracy and post on a daily basis.
- Reconciliation of bank statements.
- Extract report from Enterprise One.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Provide backup functions to other staff within the unit.
