Agricultural Impact Specialist
Are you driven to make a positive impact on agricultural producers? Do you have expertise in precision agriculture water and cropping systems management? We are seeking a strong regional expert to develop comprehensive learning programs that improve agricultural water and cropping systems, reducing environmental risk in the Bazile Groundwater Management Area (BGMA).
The position focuses on improving precision agriculture water and cropping systems management while minimizing environmental risk. You will collaborate with research and extension faculty who are leaders in their field. Together, you will create and deliver innovative learning experiences empowering Nebraskans to address critical issues.

- Develop a robust on-farm research program to advance nitrogen and irrigation water best management practices
- Demonstrate measurable progress toward reduced nitrogen fertilizer loss to groundwater
- Establish a plan to study agronomic practice behavioral science among producers and influencers
- Secure continued funding for research and education efforts in the BGMA
This twelve-month, non-tenure track position offers an open rank extension educator or extension instructor title, depending on your level of education. If hired as an instructor, you will be expected to complete a master's degree within the initial five-year appointment period.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in agronomy, crop science, plant sciences, mechanized agricultural systems, natural resources, or a closely related field (extension instructor) OR master's degree in the same fields (extension educator)
- Field experience in production agriculture with a focus on cropping systems, especially corn production, relevant to Nebraska agriculture
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using precision agriculture strategies to address diverse cropping systems relevant to Nebraska agriculture
- Outstanding leadership, organization, team building, and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence behavior change, decision-making, and adoption of recommended practices in the agriculture sector
- Teaching experience in formal or non-formal settings
- Success in developing financial support for educational programs, including grant writing and fund generation
