This position works primarily at the Gere Branch Library (2400 South 56th Street, 68506) and the South Branch Library (2675 South Street, 68502) and will be assigned hours at each location.
Part-time, Monday - Sunday, Hours : approximately 12 hours / week as assigned. Hours will primarily be scheduled weekdays during the periods of 9 : 00 a.m. to 12 : 00 p.m. and 12 : 00 p.m. to 3 : 00 p.m. Additional hours may occasionally be available, and schedule adjustments may be necessary around holidays and other closures. This position is not eligible for Holiday Pay or other benefits.
Library Aides provide excellent service to our customers by ensuring returned materials are checked in correctly and distributed to their next destination. They accurately shelve materials to be readily accessible by staff and customers, pull items to fill customer hold requests, and perform various collection maintenance tasks such as inventory, accurate relocation of mis-shelved items, organizing materials, and pulling assigned materials for removal from the collection. Aides may assist with set-up or tear-down for library programs and may occasionally be needed as the second staff person on-site at South Branch Library.
Examples of work performed : Shelves materials efficiently, performs shelf reading, checks in materials, empties bookdrops and sorts materials, assists with collection maintenance such as shifting, search lists, inventories, and weeding.
