Job Summary:
Location: Methodist Women's HospitalAddress: 707 N. 190th Plaza - Elkhorn, NE
Work Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Variable Days, Rotating Weekends, Rotating Holidays.
Eligible for full time benefits.
Interviews parents to obtain Birth Certificates, Social Security numbers and Fetal Death Certificates.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
1. Interview parents to obtain Birth Certificates, Social Security cards and Fetal Death Certificates
Answers telephones.
Maintains and operates the Birth Certificate System.
Gives directions to patients, family members and visitors.
Fax and copy information as required.
Explains state laws regarding marriage, divorce decrees, and the legalities of who can go on a birth certificate.
Completes the facility worksheets and mother's worksheets.
2. Collaborates with the State Vital Statistics office.
Checks the reject que frequently and responds to the State.
Amends the birth certificate when warranted.
Maintains Notary Certification for the State of Nebraska.
Notarizes two way, three way, and single paternity forms.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
Maintains procedure books and paternity education.
Assist in the orientation of new staff members.
Prepares hearing screen reports for the State
Enters name changes to facilitate billing and lab in a timely fashion.
Completes and shares monthly maternity report (MMR).
Schedule:
Work Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Variable Days, Rotating Weekends, Rotating Holidays.

Job Requirements
Education
- High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent required.
- Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
Experience
- N/A
License/Certifications
- Notary certification and stamp obtained and maintained within the first 3 months of employment required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Skills and knowledge in order to prepare reports, perform calculations, keep records, and deal effectively with people.
- Passing grade on medical terminology course required.
- Ability to type 30 to 40 wpm. with accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to communicate with physicians, callers, visitors, patients, family and team members by verbal and written communication.
- Ability to utilize a variety of computer applications and look at a computer screen 50-80% of the time.
- Must be highly organized and able to prioritize work flow.
