Certified Surgical Coder | Nebraska Methodist Health System
Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a Certified Surgical Coder to accurately assign codes for professional charges related to surgical procedures for both inpatient and outpatient services. The role involves applying the correct CPT, ICD-10-CM codes, and modifiers in alignment with medical policies and guidelines.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assigns ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to outpatient records for maximum reimbursement, adhering to coding principles and UHDDS definitions.
- Maintains 95% accuracy rate when entering codes into the code summary for timely claim submissions.
- Reviews CPT and HCPCS codes to ensure accurate charges for services and devices, attaching modifiers and making necessary adjustments.
- Collaborates with physicians to review hospital billing charges and ensure accuracy, addressing any insurance billing updates.
- Investigates claim denials, corrects codes as needed, and ensures timely submission of claims, maintaining productivity standards for various encounter types.
Location:
- Methodist Corporate Office - 825 S 169th Street, Omaha, NE.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday.
- Full-time, flexible, 8-hour daytime shifts.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D) required.
- College level completion of courses in anatomy and physiology, biology, disease process, and medical terminology required.
- Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or healthcare related degree preferred.
- Participates in mandatory in-services and continuing education as mandated by policies and procedures, external agencies, and as directed by supervisor.
- 3 years previous experience coding physician services from documentation preferred, surgical and Evaluation/Management (E/M) required.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) or Registered Health Information Tech (RHIT) or certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P) required.
