Must be proficient in excel spreadsheets and creating reports with collected data.Assists the Data Management Analysts, Clinical Quality RN Analysts, hospital professionals, and/or leadership with abstraction of data from EMR and various other software sources used by the Health System.

Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
Abstracts, aggregates, and displays data into reports from the Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and any databases or sources for health system with correct and timely reports.
Ensures integrity of data for completeness, accuracy through continuous review, and communication with other quality department staff and clinical areas as needed.
Mentors and teaches other staff on how to abstract, aggregate, display, and coordinate communication of data to clinical areas.
Provides coordination between multiple departments to facilitate the data abstraction from the correct fields and accommodate capabilities within the computerized system.
Coordinates annual evaluation of published reports and software used by the department to determine appropriateness of the content being used or if changes are necessary.
Reports data management maintenance and ongoing changes.
Assists clinical analysts and department managers on data collection practices: helps initiate, plan, monitor, and control quality improvement projects.
Maintains knowledge of abstraction standards and requirements for continuous quality improvement changes and reporting.
Communicates effectively and work closely with team members in the quality department to resolve questions, communicate concerns, and/or trends with abstracted data.

Job Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.
- Associate's Degree in Health Services Administration, Information Systems, Health Services Research, Biostatistics, or science or other health related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of one year experience with standard computer software, such as Excel, Microsoft Word required.
- Minimum of 3 years data management or healthcare experience required.
- RHIT certification, medical technology, and/or coding experience desired.
License/Certifications
- Participates in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies, and as directed by supervisor.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must be proficient in excel spreadsheets and creating reports with collected data.
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of data analysis and standard Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated competency in utilizing computer keyboard.
- Knowledge of mathematical calculations and medical terminology.
- Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize according to deadlines.
- Ability to perform numerous tasks at one time.
- Exemplary customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of clinical workflows to understand types of health information.
