Job Summary:
The Imaging Support Specialist is responsible for assisting the Certified Technologist during the imaging process. Duties include caring for patients by transporting them to procedures, answering the department phone, and assisting in image retrieval/file room duties. Communicating with other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care as well as exam room preparation. The Imaging Tech Aide may be assigned to work in a variety of radiology modalities and/or clinical services per operational needs. Will be trained in PACS and Powershare for File room support.Location: Methodist Fremont Health

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Promotes positive relations when interacting with patients, visitors, families, physicians, customers, and co-workers.
- Greets, smiles, and makes eye contact.
- Introduces self by name.
- Volunteers to help co-workers and other employees.
- Addresses patients and others by surname.
- Responds quickly to patients and/or other peoples' needs.
- Demonstrates good communication style and interpersonal communication skills with patients/families.
- Complaints resulting from patients shall not exceed 3 per year.
Acts as receptionist for the department. Handles incoming and outgoing information in a person and by telephone.
- Always demonstrates proper office communication etiquette.
- Takes reports from other departments without error.
- Reports vital information to the appropriate staff immediately.
- Obtains information for physicians and provides prompt response and follow-up.
- Notifies the technologist in the performing area that their outpatient has arrived and checks in scheduled appointments.
Assists with maintenance and orderliness in the patient care areas.
- Keeps the transport equipment clean, neat and orderly.
- File drawers are labeled, orderly, and stocked.
- Completes other cleaning tasks as assigned, empties trash confidential bins.
- Maintains cleanliness for computers and countertops.
- Checks and fills printers with paper.
Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary, and support areas. Transfers patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers.
- Follows established departmental policies and procedures, Standard Safety Precautions and uses exceptional customer service to ensure delivery of services within an established time frame.
- Verifies that the patient identification bracelet is correct and/or seeks assistance to obtain the correct bracelet.
- Communicates with appropriate personnel regarding transportation of patients when the patient is leaving or returning to the unit or procedure area to ensure the safe transition of care for the patient.
- Assists with meeting patient care needs.
Completes inventory of supplies and materials.
- Checks supply inventory and orders supplies according to par levels.
- Monitors supplies for outdates and disposes of outdated material correctly.
Clerical Support.
- Downloads CDs into the electronic health record.
- Prepares imaging studies for continuation of care by creating a CD or electronic transmission through PACs.
- Assures that requests for facsimile copies are referred to HIM.
- Provides phone communication with selected department or agencies.
- Demonstrates use of computer for performing tasks and confidentially managing electronic patient information.

Job Requirements
Education
- High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED), or equivalent required.
- Completion of Medical Terminology preferred.
Experience
- 6-12 months previous customer services experience preferred.
- Previous patient care contact preferred.
License/Certifications
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Skilled in critical thinking, problem solving, and sound judgment.
- Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers required.
- Customer service skills necessary to provide service excellence through verbal and written communication.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard,, mouse, and navigate standard office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Ability to operate general office equipment including multi-line phone system and proper phone etiquette.
- Ability to transport/escort patients and guests/family members safely to appropriate locations.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with interruptions.
