The Occupational Therapy Program Director at Nebraska Methodist College is the senior leader responsible for the overall management and administration of the Occupational Therapy program. This role entails comprehensive oversight of program operations, including strategic planning, ongoing evaluation, budgeting, and the selection and supervision of faculty and staff. The Program Director plays a crucial role in maintaining the program’s accreditation status, ensuring compliance with ACOTE standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
In addition to these core responsibilities, the Program Director is actively involved in teaching, delivering high-quality instruction to students in a hybrid format, and mentoring them throughout their educational journey. This teaching component ensures that the Program Director remains connected to the curriculum and the student experience, providing direct insight into program strengths and areas for enhancement.
The Program Director also leads initiatives that support the professional development of faculty, staff, and students, cultivating a learning environment that aligns with the college’s mission and values. Responsibilities include curriculum development and revision to stay current with industry trends and best practices, as well as managing clinical partnerships and fieldwork placements to enhance the educational experience.
This position is a 12-month administrative faculty appointment, providing leadership and instruction across the academic year. The individual in this role reports directly to the Dean for Health Professions and collaborates closely with other program directors and academic leaders within the college to support interdisciplinary education and institutional goals.
Responsibilities :
Essential Job Functions
Program Director :
- Manage and administer the occupational therapy education program, including planning, evaluating, budgeting for occupational therapy curriculum.
- Assume responsibility in consultation with the occupational therapy faculty, in developing, implementing, and evaluating academic and fieldwork education.
- Develop the graduate occupational therapy curriculum, ensuring compliance with ACOTE standards and building on the current graduate program.
- Maintain accreditation of the occupational therapy program using the ACOTE standards.
- Complete evaluation of the Masters in Occupational Therapy program and implement changes as indicated by outcomes and standards changes.
- Recruit and assign faculty to ensure optimum implementation of the curriculum.
- Participate in recruitment of students and development of recruitment material.
- Supervise faculty positions within the occupational therapy department.
- Train and support adjunct faculty.
- Ensure the occupational therapy program and curriculum are congruent with the mission and values of the University.
- Promote excellence in teaching, research and community engagement.
- Seek or identify grants to obtain program, community engagement and research support.
- Ensure ongoing faculty development and mentor new faculty.
- Link and coordinate between the academic and clinical arenas.
