Nebraska Methodist Health System is hiring a Purchasing Clerk at our Methodist Corporate Offices location. The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for procuring both clinical and non-clinical supplies, as well as handling specialty buying for Methodist Health System. This role involves utilizing Lawson to approve and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in procurement operations. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for reconciling invoice discrepancies, maintaining cost-effective purchasing practices, and securing the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Vendor & Specialty Purchasing – Works with approved vendors to purchase specialty supplies and products based on vendor agreements and laboratory management requests, ensuring cost-effective procurement.
- Purchase Order Processing – Utilizes Lawson to enter, review, and approve purchase orders, verify pricing, clear daily requisitions, and ensure timely order submission.
- Order Management & Issue Resolution – Researches alternate product codes, tracks missing or misplaced orders, processes purchase returns, and verifies backorders through GHX to ensure order accuracy and fulfillment.
- Communication & Customer Service – Responds to inquiries via email and phone, coordinates special orders and urgent deliveries, informs departments of delivery delays or substitutions, and collaborates with Finance to resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Contract & Data Maintenance – Updates pricing in the purchasing system, maintains purchasing records, prepares trend reports, supports VAT initiatives, and participates in Value Analysis meetings.
Location:
- Methodist Corporate Office - 825 S. 169th Street, Omaha, NE.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Salary:
- Pay starts at $16.50 and may increase based on work history/experience.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma, General Educational Development (G.E.D.) or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
- Medical Technology degree highly recommended.
- 3 - 5 years experience in Medical requisitioning, purchasing and/or FISCAL management required.
- Prior experience in Procurement, Finance, product research and automated purchasing software preferred.
