Ensures the implementation of departmental policies and procedures that address how nursing care needs of the patient population are assessed, met and evaluated.
- Creates an environment to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.
- Assists in preparing a realistic budget within established guidelines.
- Takes corrective action when budget variances are identified.
- Assists in the development and implementation of cost saving process changes or alternative products or procedures.
- Implements a budget based master scheduling and staffing plan for assigned care unit(s).
- Adjusts staffing on an as needed basis to meet patient care needs and budget target.
- Develops enthusiasm for day-to-day tasks.

Education
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Minimum three years of progressively more responsible experience in area(s) of expertise. Health care experience preferred.
- Current valid Nebraska RN License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
- Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred for those who manage high acuity units.
- Preferred core certification related to area of specialty within one year of eligibility.
- Knowledge of specific clinical/technical area(s), health care delivery and management principles normally acquired through post-secondary education in a related field.
- Interpersonal relationship skills to interact in a sensitive way in delicate and/or complex situations, to lead teams and to make effective presentations to colleagues and other constituencies.
