Our Organization:
The Nebraska Pork Producers Association is a grassroots, incorporated, nonprofit organization established in 1961. As a USDA checkoff organization, we carry out education, promotion, and research activities on behalf of Nebraska’s pork industry. We are in Lincoln, NE a city of about 300,000 people and home of the State Capitol, University of Nebraska Lincoln, as well as many parks, trails, recreational, and entertainment venues.
The Position:
The Nebraska Pork Producers Association (NPPA) seeks a self-starter for the position of Education Director in their Lincoln office. This person will be responsible for education programs and activities, as well as assisting in other NPPA activities, while positively and enthusiastically representing agriculture and the pork industry in Nebraska.
The pay range is $42,000-$47,000 depending on experience. We offer a full package of benefits including health care, life insurance, vision, dental, paid time off, and use of company vehicle.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for developing, coordinating, managing, and delivering leadership development and education programs statewide. Will work closely with NPPA staff, board members, farmers, program participants, media representatives, extension educators, 4-H programs, show pig participants, agriculture educators, FFA advisors, and others.
Responsible for researching, writing, marketing, and distributing curriculum and other educational materials, educational programs, seminars, and workshops across Nebraska as well as creating and coordinating content for print and online media.
Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
Keeps well informed of all activities and programs of the NPPA. Helps maintain NPPA website. The Education Director, as with all NPPA staff members, must be willing to contribute their skills and time when needed for projects and meetings that may not relate directly to their program areas. All staff must be willing to work cohesively with other staff members to create a team to provide the best programs and experiences for the benefit of our pork producers. Attends all meetings of the board and other special meetings and association events. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, ag communications, ag business, animal science, or similar area. Must be knowledgeable of the pork and agriculture industries in Nebraska. Knowledge of curriculum development at high school or college levels a plus. Possess the skills and abilities to communicate effectively with various audiences including media, farmers, other state associations, industry professionals, Extension/4-H educators, agriculture educators, FFA advisors, and university faculty. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office is a must. Spanish language skills a plus. Must enjoy having fun at work!
