Career Summary :

The Advanced Practice Provider (Licensed NP or PA) will deliver health care services in collaboration with our Physicians, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, safety protocols, and performance metrics. Utilizing critical thinking and evidence-based practices, the Nebraska Spine Pain Center’s APPs are rigorously trained to conduct comprehensive and focused history and physical examinations, as well as interpret laboratory and diagnostic results.

They will develop treatment plans for orthopedic issues within their scope of practice and implement therapeutic interventions as appropriate. When necessary, they will exercise clinical judgment to consult, refer, or evaluate patients in collaboration with other health care professionals. Our APPs are fully equipped to manage a range of cases, from common to complex, providing thorough health assessments, diagnoses, treatment, and outcome management for patients of all ages.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures.
  • Analyze test data to diagnose, treat and arrange appropriate follow up for the patient to ensure continuity of care.
  • Administers and orders diagnostic tests such as x-rays, EMG, CT, MRI, bone scans, electrocardiograms, and blood work, and interprets test results.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
  • Exercise professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
  • Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients, and records progress.
  • Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other orthopaedic devices as may be allowed by state guidelines and clinic regulations.
  • Order injections, procedures, physical therapy or chiropractic care.
  • Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet and health maintenance.
  • Lead your practice and always do what's right for the patient.
  • Continued employment requires Nebraska licensure renewal every 2 years and board certification every 5 years, CME requirements for both.

Requirements :

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to relate to patients and staff, to assess patient needs and to provide appropriate primary healthcare services.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written form.
  • Effective critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare policy, Medicare / Medicaid regulations and societal factors affecting the delivery of primary healthcare.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Education :

  • Graduate of an NCCPA accredited physician assistant program; NP or Post Master's NP program, required.
  • State accreditation based on certifying exam.
  • Current unrestricted state license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Nationally board certified, current
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals, blood borne pathogens, and patient body fluids.
