What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director-Financial Aid position at Nebraska State College System?
Nature of Work
Oversee the administration of the various Federal and State Financial Aid programs and processes. Understand and apply Federal and State Regulations and Institutional policies to daily operations. Maintain appropriate communication with the various populations the Financial Aid Office serves as it relates to the programs being administered by the Financial Aid Counselors.
Examples of Work Performed
Essential Duties:
1. Oversees the administration of the Federal and State Student Aid programs in accordance to federal and state regulations. Assign financial aid awards in accordance to eligibility requirements and deliver appropriate financial aid award notifications to students. Monitor continued eligibility for the various programs in accordance to the federal and state regulations, including Satisfactory Academic Progress and Return to Title IV
2. Oversees the federal and state payment processes, which include transmitting and receiving electronic files to and from COD, down/uploading electronic files to and from the student information system, and reconciling disbursement records with COD, including troubleshooting related issue as they surface
3. Oversees the Work Study program for both the on and off campus functions, including administering the America Reads, Community Service programs and the Off Campus contracts and appropriate communications
4. Oversees the administration of the verification process, which includes verifying FAFSA accuracy on all applications selected, making the appropriate corrections and submitting to the Central Processing System and providing appropriate communications
5. Manage all fund balances for the federal and state programs and oversee the limited resource funds are fully expended for each award year
6. Conducts Direct Loan reconciliation
7. Oversees the administration of outside scholarships and manage student aid over awards
8. Oversees the Communications calendar for the department/team
9. Oversees all set up and testing for Financial Aid component
Secondary Duties:
1. Process staff waiver forms
2. Complete external forms requesting financial aid package information, including but not limited to BIA, Vocational Rehabilitation, Low Income Housing forms, etc.
3. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Student Services

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Experience in business education, administration, computer training and/or related areas
Must have good oral and written communication skills
