School Adjustment Counselor - Needham High School

Needham Public Schools is an inclusive, dynamic, and multicultural community seeking an
energetic, skilled, and warm Adjustment Counselor to enhance our goals of supporting every child, Needham Public Schools seeks candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences. This posting is for a full-time clinical position in the Pathways and Connections school-based therapeutic programs designed to support students with significant mental health needs.  

 Job Description:

The Adjustment Counselor works with students who have mental health and
social-emotional needs as well as consultation to staff, caregivers, and service providers regarding the mental health and social-emotional needs of the students.
Provides a high level of case management including outside therapists, hospital staff, day
program staff, and outside agencies
Providing crisis management and emotional support to students experiencing acute
distress
Providing a high level of parent communication as well as direct work with families.
Qualifications:
Masters in Social Work or Counseling
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as a school
social worker
Experience with trauma-informed care with at-risk populations preferred
Prior clinical experience with adolescents required
