Needham High School is accepting applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and experiences for the position of .1 Technical Director / Auditorium Manager . Needham Public Schools has a vibrant and robust Performing Arts Department. This position will be focused mainly on the six theatrical producations that the District produces each year. Previous techincal directing experience with students is preferred but not required.

Job Description

• Maintain working theatrical spaces at NHS, Newman, and Pollard to ensure safety and functionality across the schools; this position focuses only the theatrical lighting and sound components of the auditorium spaces
• Monitors and inventories the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, rigging equipment, and theatrical draperies / curtains.
• Arranges for the repair and replacement of theatrical equipment with budgetary constraints as directed by the FPA Director.
• Performs preventive maintenance of equipment in the HS, Newman, and Pollard Auditoriums.
• Provide supervision of student actors and technical theater students during productions.
• At tech week rehearsals and performance for all school productions.
• Provides technical rehearsal notes to show Directors.
• Train and supervise students, Fine and Performing arts staff, in the safe and correct use of stage, lighting, and sound equipment.
• Execute the technical elements of light, sound, and rigging for all Performing Arts Department theatrical productions
• Coordinate with the Set Director regarding purchasing of materials and build days
