The Needham Public Schools seeks applicants of diverse backgrounds and experiences for the position of 1.0 FTE Temporary English teacher at Needham High School. This position will cover all professional responsibilities for maternity leave, beginning on or near May 19th and concluding at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

The successful candidate will plan/teach four sections of English and work collaboratively with members of the English Department to support student learning and growth. Under the general supervision of the English Department Chair, this teacher will be responsible for advancing students' critical reading, thinking, and writing skills and guiding their inquiry of diverse literary artifacts. As a Needham High School educator, this teacher will work collaboratively to integrate the attributes, skills, and knowledge made explicit in the Portrait of a Needham Graduate, emphasizing the preparation of students to become socially and culturally responsive contributors.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, have experience working with and/or teaching high school students, and understand the diverse needs of students at this age. Additionally, candidates who have a collaborative work ethic, training/experience in the use of instructional technology, a commitment to inclusive pedagogy, and the potential to contribute to student life beyond the classroom are strongly encouraged to apply.
