Job Title: Data Center (Infrastructure) Technician
Location: Santa Clara, CA
Responsibilities:
Quickly resolve tickets related to:
- equipment installation: Gigamon equipment, 3rd party, able to lift 35lbs without assistance
- topology builds using fiber, copper, DAC cabling and optics from 1G to 400G
- cabling: copper, LC, MPO, MPO breakout; SM & MM, attenuators
- troubleshooting servers, OS, switches, PDUs, networking
- OS installs on bare metal or VM (ESXi, vSphere, Ubuntu, RH)
Work on technical projects:
- DCIM solution (inception to production)
- DHCP / DNS self-help system
- Others as they are defined
Own the site
- Ticket queue ownership, help other team members with any ticket
- Knowledgeable to all equipments to provide loaners, recover loaners
- Know the power consumption, cooling system, space planning
- RCA (root cause analysis): server, networking issues
Skills:
- Can work by oneself & excel at ticket resolution / customer satisfaction
- Can think outside of the box, creatively solve issues, understand the outcome without full requirements
- Clearly communicate, ask questions for clarification
- Time management, time slicing to handle multiple requests at one time
Working knowledge of:
- Operating Systems: ESXi, Linux, Windows
- Networking Concepts: network loop, DHCP, DNS, IP V4 VS IPV6, NTP, NFS, access vs trunk ports
- Copper vs Fiber (LC/MPO)
- General Technical Skills: HD (SATA, SAS, Nvme, RAID), RAM, Processors, ESD
- Programming Concepts: loops, regular expression, API
- Production vs Sandbox; scope & drive project requirements
- Infrastructure: 3PH power, cold water chillers, mini-split AC units
