Job Summary

This position is responsible for continuously monitoring and analyzing production requirements to minimize on hand inventories by ensuring no shortages for direct materials. The Buyer is responsible for buying supplies for production.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for negotiating and continuously monitoring and analyzing production requirements to minimize on hand inventories but ensuring no shortages for the following direct material:
  • Lumber
  • Imported and domestic plywood
  • OSB
  • Steel
  • Nefab Components
  • Component Suppliers
  • Fasteners
  • Stringers
  • Blocks
  • Straps
  • Pallets
  • Corrugate
  • Foams
  • Hardware’s
  • Paint, Cleaning solutions
  • Any other production supplies
  • Coordinates month-end physical inventory count (Raw):
  • Counting and reporting
  • Inputs data into AX
  • Complete monthly usage and waste reports – Report stock and usage back to Nefab Supply
  • Trouble-shooting and variance analysis
  • Negotiates prices and ensure supply of indirect materials
  • PPE – gloves, ear plugs and safety glasses
  • Banding
  • Inks, paints and glue
  • Tools
  • Machinery consumables
  • Bits
  • Blades
  • Oils
  • Greases
  • Miscellaneous items
  • Continuously investigates better ways of working with current suppliers so that “overall costs of acquisition” are minimizing
  • Measures and reports on supplier service and quality and use this information to reduce costs and improve the overall performance of the supplier base
  • Negotiation of terms
  • FG Warehouse / RM Warehouse / Lumber Yard
  • Inventory management of Raw Materials
  • Organization of all FG, Kanban, stock boxes, raw materials
  • Housekeeping
  • KPI Responsibility
  • Stock Outs
  • Report commodity pricing regularly
  • Days of Raw Material

Minimum Experience And Education Requirements

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor degree or College Diploma in a business-related discipline

Experience

  • 5 years of buying and/or sourcing experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience budgeting and preparing financial reports
  • Experience negotiating with multiple suppliers

LANGUAGES

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

Physical Environment

  • The duties of this job include physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, standing, reaching, walking, lifting (1-40lbs), gripping, pushing/pulling, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/observing, and repetitive motions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Work Environment

  • Office working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require local and international travel, overnight travel and weekend and/or evening work.
  • The Buyer role has daily stress due to strict deadlines and responsibility in accuracy. The incumbent is faced with constant interruptions and frequently meets with others.
  • Plant working conditions include noise in excess of 90 dlb, Temperature ranging from 5– 34 Celsius, and some dust. Personal Protection Equipment is provided.
