What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dentist position at Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy?
This position provides comprehensive dental care to the patients of Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy and is committed to upholding the mission of the clinic, achieving patient clinical measures and contributing to the wellness of the broader community.
This position will lead a new dental care team that will provide dental services at the new and expanded Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy facility in Wheeler, Oregon. Start date is expected to be August 1, 2025.
Duties:
- Diagnoses and treats a wide range of dental conditions, including routine exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, and other procedures.
- Supervises the day-to-day work of the clinic’s dental staff.
- Partners with dental hygienists, assistants, and other team members to provide comprehensive dental care to patients
- Stays up to date on current dental procedures, technologies, and best practices.
- Completes all requirements to maintain an active license to practice dentistry in Oregon.
- Maintains accurate and timely patient records.
- Communicates effectively with patients to educate them on their dental health and treatment options.
- Mentors and supervises junior dentists and other team members.
- Achieves Clinic productivity goals.
- Reviews clinical practice by developing and participating in medical record audits, peer review, clinical data review and other practice review activities.
- Participates in various clinic committees, as appropriate.
- Participates in clinic quality improvement activities.
- Participates in student training opportunities.
- Complies with all clinical policies and procedures.
- Assists in community public relations functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills/Attributes

Qualifications:
- DDS or DMD degree from an appropriately accredited dental school.
- Current license to practice dentistry in the State of Oregon.
- Experience working as a General Dentist in a fast-paced clinical setting preferred.
- Experience providing dental care to children and adolescents.
- Experience working with electronic patient records.
- Experience working with dental imaging equipment and other dental technology.

Physical Requirements:
- Standing/walking; predominant daily position.
- Bending, stooping, lifting, positioning; predominant daily physical activities while performing duties within clinic practice.
- In performing job duties may be exposed to blood and body fluids and hazardous chemicals; sight, auditory, tactile and olfactory senses exposure.
