About the Position
As a Civil-Structural Engineering Intern in the Substations Group, you will assist in performing physical and structural design for electric power supply facilities, including utility, industrial, and commercial substations.
Hourly Rate: $27.00/hour
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
Essential Responsibilities

Assist in performing detailed physical and structural design for all aspects of electric power supply facilities, including utility, industrial, and commercial substations.

Help prepare design products, including equipment general arrangement, elevations, foundation plan and details, structural steel drawings and details, bus and connection details, bill of materials, building plan, conductor stringing tables for shield wire poles, fence details, and permitting.

Review grading and drainage plans, transmission line, distribution line, generation plant, Protection and Control one-lines, and switching one-line drawings to ensure they meet substation design requirements.

Complete hand and computer-based calculations and models for structural designs. Create simple hand checks to quantify computer-aided results.

Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects, including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies.

Understand and apply applicable Codes and Standards.

Other duties as assigned.
Must Have
-
Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred.

Experience: Relevant coursework or projects in civil engineering or field experience is a plus.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, SAP2000, L-Pile, MathCad, and PLS-CADD is a plus.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Effective written and oral communication skills.

Good interpersonal and people skills.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
