About the Position
As a Renewable Civil Engineering Intern in the Renewable Civil group, you will assist in the design of utility-scale solar projects nationwide. This position involves activities related to the site design of Solar Photovoltaic projects, including site planning, grading, stormwater modeling, erosion control design, hydrology analysis, development of SWPPPs, BMPs, site permitting, and stormwater reports. You will be part of an integrated design team alongside other disciplines to meet project schedules and deliverables.
Hourly Rate: $27.00/hour
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
Essential Responsibilities

Assists in the civil engineering scope of utility solar facilities.

Participates in the production and review of full design packages, including site plans, grading plans, stormwater modeling, erosion control design, hydrology analysis, development of SWPPPs, BMPs, site permitting, and stormwater reports.

Draft and design using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including mass grading, road corridors, volume earthwork comparisons, surface creation with feature lines and grading objects, etc.

Assists with the preparation of design documents for Solar Civil Design, including calculations, drawings, and civil specifications.

Support stormwater modeling and basin design.

Participates in the project site evaluation and constrains, solar module, inverter, and racking technologies, BOP (balance of plant) considerations, and solar resource data to maximize project value.

Researches and evaluates local AHJ design and code requirements and standards.

Assists in developing project schedules and project/construction cost estimates.

Prepare hand and computer-based calculations and models for Civil Engineering designs; create simple hand checks to quantify computer-aided results.
Must Have

Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in civil engineering or a similar field from an accredited institution.

Experience: Relevant coursework or project experience in engineering.

Enthusiasm for learning multiple disciplines and technologies.

Basic understanding of civil engineering.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills.

Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision-maker comfortable in a fast-paced design environment.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
