About the Position

As a senior level Structural Engineer in the Substations group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be responsible for supporting client projects and providing a quality deliverable that is on time and within the defined budget. This particular role will also include Project Phase Management responsibilities.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 / year

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.

Essential Responsibilities

Project Phase management responsibilities include:

• Communications with the client about the expectations on the project, coordinating with the team lead on resource requirements to complete the project submittals on time and on budget.
• Budget and schedule management for substation scope of work.
• Perform initial QAQC review of packages prior to submitting them to the QAQC team
• Coordination with all internal stakeholders on the project to ensure it is managed to successful completion.  
• Providing training and mentorship to less experienced team members

Senior Structural Engineering responsibilities include:

• Performs detailed physical and structural design for all aspects of electric power supply facilities including utility, industrial and commercial substations
• Prepares design products including equipment general arrangement, elevations, foundation plan and details, structural steel drawings and details, bus and connection details, bill of materials, building plan, conductor stringing tables for shield wire poles, fence details, permitting
• Reviews Grading and Drainage plans, T-Line, Distribution line, generation plant, Protection and Control one-lines, switching one-line drawings to ensure they meet the substation design requirements
• Prepares selection of equipment, writing of equipment, concrete, and steel specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling. Review of submittals for conformance with specifications and design
• Completes hand and computer-based calculations and models for structural designs. Employee should create a simple hand check to quantify the computer aided results
• Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies
• Performs field inspection and construction supervision services
• Checks the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required
• Understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards
• Assists with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Must Have

• Education: Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
• Experience: 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience
• Licensure: FE is required, PE is preferred
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SAP2000, L-Pile, MathCad, and PLS-CADD is a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
• Good interpersonal and people skills
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
